The “Ivory 240” is a special commission for Touring Design, marking our first project made for clients outside our founders. Built for a father and son, this vehicle was designed to be a versatile family cruiser, perfect for journeys along Virginia’s coast and the Hamptons. Its exterior features a Light Ivory (Hellelfenbein) DB-623 finish, inspired by classic Mercedes colors. The glossy black accents on the grill and headlight surrounds, along with matching frame and suspension coil springs, create a cohesive and refined look.
The interior focuses on comfort, replacing the traditional rear bench seat with two captain seats for added luxury. The medium brown leather upholstery with cream stitching adds a sophisticated touch, extending to the front seats, steering wheel, and other components, which feature black and brown leather finishes. Mechanically, the Ivory 240 maintains its original inline 4-cylinder diesel engine and 4-speed manual transmission, complemented by new transmission seals and resealed crankshafts. The suspension has been upgraded with Sachs springs and KONI shocks, and the vehicle now rides on new 285/75/16 Cooper TT tires mounted on black off road steel wheels.
Modern features include an integrated AC system, an aluminum radiator with an electric fan, and power steering. The audio setup consists of a single DIN Continental head unit, Pioneer speakers, and a subwoofer. Additional elements like the wood floor on the rear deck, LED halo headlights, and tail lights enhance the vehicle’s functionality. The Ivory 240 was created to be a reliable and comfortable vehicle for family adventures. It showcases Touring Design’s commitment to quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design, making every trip a memorable experience.
